What this site collects
Nothing. There is no analytics, no tracking of any kind, and no advertising. Nobody is counting who visits or where they came from.
Cookies
This site sets none, which is why there is no banner asking you to accept any.
Things loaded from elsewhere
Nothing on these pages is fetched from another company. The drawings, the animations and both typefaces are all served from this site, so simply reading it does not tell anyone else that you were here.
Links out
There are links to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, GIPHY and Pinterest. Following one takes you to that company, and once you are there their rules apply, not these.
The newsletter
If you put your email address in the signup box, one email is sent to that address asking you to confirm. Nothing else happens until you click the link in it. If you never click it, the address is deleted within a day and you are on no list.
Your address is the only thing kept. Not your name, not where you are, not which emails you opened, not anything you looked at here. It is stored by Resend, an email company in the United States, under the Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework — the arrangements European law provides for exactly this. The emails themselves are sent from inside the EU.
Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link, and it works in one click. You can also ask for your address to be deleted by writing to mail@spooksthecat.com, and it will be. The list is never sold, never shared, and never used for anything but the newsletter.
Signing up is the only thing on this website that collects anything at all. Everything above still applies to everyone who simply reads it.
The shop
Buying is handled by Shopify. Reading the shop page does not involve them at all: nothing of theirs is loaded, and nothing about you is sent anywhere, exactly as on every other page here. That changes only if you choose to buy something.
Press the buy button and Shopify’s basket loads at that moment. From then on they can store things on your device to remember what is in it, and what you type into the checkout — your name, your address, your payment details — goes to them. It is needed to take your money and to post you a parcel. Card details never reach this site.
We see the name, address and email you gave, because an order cannot be posted without them. They are used to send your order and to answer you if you write. They are not added to any list, and nothing is sold to anybody.
If you email
Writing to mail@spooksthecat.com means your message and your address sit in an ordinary mailbox, and are used to reply to you and nothing else. They are not added to any list.
Hosting
This site is served by Cloudflare, from their network rather than from a machine of ours. Like any web server, they keep the ordinary records of requests that reach them, which include an IP address, and they use those to run and protect the service. Their network also asks your browser to tell them if a connection to this site fails, which is how an outage gets noticed; nothing is sent when a page loads normally.
Asking
Any question about this, including asking what is held about you or asking for it to be deleted, goes to mail@spooksthecat.com and will be answered. Spooks the Cat is responsible for this site.
